Aintree's Showing Spectacular - another success!

Aintree Showing Spectacular  – Sunday 13th February 2011
Another success for AINTREE’S SHOWING EVENT

Following on from the success and numerous requests from past competitors at Aintree’s first showing competition held in August last year  Aintree decided to run their second Showing Spectacular event within their impressive arena.  Derby House Saddlery kindly sponsored the event by offering Derby House saddlery vouchers to all championship winners down to third place together with Aintree Racecourse kindly supplying two race tickets to the winners of the Championship classes.
With 59 classes on offer ranging from In Hand yearlings to In Hand veterans and Lead Rein Show Ponies to ridden Hunter classes, a large selection of classes were available to suit all shapes, sizes, ages and breeds.  With so many classes on offer, an early start was the order of the day to ensure all competitors, horses and ponies were tucked up in their beds before midnight!  One competitor travelled from York and left at 4.30am in the morning to make sure she arrived in time for the first class – that’s what you call enthusiasm.
With good entries for the In H and classes, which took place in the morning in the main arena, Aintree were pleased to see 15 come forward for the Championship. The championship winner, Rossway Black Olive handled by Daniel Snowdon qualified by winning the Best conditioned  class, they went home with a £50 Derby House Saddlery voucher, a trophy, race tickets, championship rosette and also a championship sash. Aintree also gave rosettes up to 10th place in all the Championship classes.
Cyntaf Supercharge, ridden by F. Whiteley, went on to do their lap of honour to the music of “Simply the Best” after qualifying in the Welsh Section D & D class and beating 10 others in the championship. Cyntaf Supercharge went home with a £50 Derby House saddlery voucher, plenty of red ribbons and race tickets.
Jimmy Choo, who was a real head turner in his qualifying class, the Part Bred Arab went on to impress in the Championship with rider R. Turner and took away the Pony Championship prize.
With over 400 entries received on the day, Carly Goodall, our show secretary did a sterling job in the office keeping all our customers happy.  We have received some great feedback from competitors who are all asking “when is the next show”.
Our thanks must go to our judges and stewards, Rachael Reeves, Vince Seddon, Kath Vines and Kerry Wood from Derby House Saddlery for all their hard work and support in making this day a success.  Our next showing event – The Aintree National Showing event will take place on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th July and is to be held in the middle of Aintree Racecourse so we are looking forward to a very exciting event.
Please keep a look out on our website:  www.aintreeequestriancentre.co.uk for schedules for the above event which will be available when final approval has been granted by the governing bodies and all qualifying events have been finalised.  We look forward to seeing competitors new and old.
