National Amateur and Veterans Championships
The 2010 British Showjumping National Amateur and Veterans Championships took place at Aintree Racecourse last week.There were competitions for all levels of amateur rider, from the 90cms through to the 1.20m Grand Prix’s, and for the more mature rider, the Veteran Grand Prix’s.
“What a fantastic venue Aintree is, their facilities are truly top class. I came last year as a spectator, but after seeing what was on offer I aimed my showjumping purely at these Championships,” commented a competitor.
Holly Broad from Bexley, Kent was crowned the 90cm British Showjumping National Amateur Champion for 2010. Holly riding Tracey Broad’s eight year old bay mare Cruella jumped a double clear in a jump off time of 28.84 seconds.
The 2010 1.00m British Showjumping National Amateur Championship title went to Alana Stonehouse from Middlesbrough, Cleveland riding Kathryn Stonehouse’s seven year old bay gelding, Gin. The pair jumped two foot perfect rounds in a jump off time of 31.65 seconds a massive 6 seconds faster than second placed Pandora Bailey.
Derbyshire based Debbie Clark took the2010 1.10m British Showjumping National Amateur Championship title. Debbie rode her own 12 year old bay mare, Dc’s Classic Lady. Debbie was drawn last to go in the jump off and so she knew exactly what she had to do to win the title. Debbie’s plan worked perfectly as she jumped clear in a time of 40.10 seconds crowning her the champion.
The 2010 1.15m British Showjumping National Amateur Championship title was won by Lancashire based Lynne Clibburn. Lyne rode her own 19 year old bay gelding, Ashdale Jackpot. This combination made light work of the 1.15m course jumping double clear in a jump off time of 34.69 seconds.
Caroline Etherington took the 2010 British Showjumping National Minor Veteran Championship title while riding her own 11 year old grey gelding Rea Diamond. This partnership jumped with ease clearing both phases in a jump off time of 32.59 seconds.
Wales based Allen Brown was awarded the 2010 British Showjumping Major Veteran Championship title after jumping a double clear in a jump off time of 35.33 seconds. Allen partnered his own 11 year old bay gelding, Dark Rebel.
